Golf Tourism Generates over 516 Million Euros on the Costa del Sol | Global News Online: "The most interesting statistic, however, is that 80% of golfers in Malaga are foreigners, which is most definitely tremendous news for tourism. More than simply a sport, golf today is a form of tourism; tourism which requires a wide, extensive range of golf courses, a location that will ensure a fine climate and where top-quality accommodation, excellent cuisine, places to visit, good service and a warm welcome are guaranteed… in short, a place like the Costa del Sol, the tourist destination par excellence.

52% of Andalusia’s golf courses are located on the Costa del Sol, a figure which also makes up 16% of the national total. It is the area with the highest number of golf courses in mainland Europe. The Costa del Sol also has eight golf schools and Europe’s only golf course equipped for night play, “La Dama de Noche”. The Costa del Sol is the official winter headquarters of the European PGA, the German PGA and the German Golf Federation."
